In case you missed it, in August 14, 2017, Monogram Refrigeration, a subsidiary of GE Appliances and a Haier company, announced they plan to expand their manufacturing facility in Selmer, TN. The company plans to invest $9.3 million into the expansion, which will create 210 new jobs. The company will also introduce a new product line, and will be adding 120,000 square feet to their existing facility.
Governor Bill Haslam issued a statement of gratitude, stating, “I thank Monogram, one of our most well-known brands, for reinvesting and expanding in Tennessee and for helping us get one step closer to our goal of making Tennessee the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs.”
This expansion is important for the city of Selmer and McNairy County, which is considered a Tier 4 Distressed County. Monogram’s expansion is a prime example of how companies in Tennessee with Chinese corporate investment can be successful in facilitating growth and expansion locally.
