On Tuesday, October 24, 2017, TN-China Network (TNCN) joined 80+ communities across the United States in a national conversation on China, featuring an interactive webcast with Ambassador Susan Rice, moderated by Stephen A. Orlins, President of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations (NCUSCR), and on-site discussions in both Nashville and Knoxville, Tennessee. Approximately 100 people total attended the two Tennessee CHINA Town Hall events.
The on-site speaker in Knoxville was Dr. William Hurst of Northwestern University, speaking on “China’s Foreign Policy in the Age of Trump”. The event took place at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville (UTK) Howard Baker Center for Public Policy Toyota Auditorium. The event was organized by the NCUSCR, the UTK Department of History, and TNCN. It was sponsored by the UTK Asian Studies Program, the Baker Center, and the UTK Confucius Institute.
The on-site speaker in Nashville was Jim Lambert, Sales Director of FCStone Merchant Services, LLC, and Board Member of TNCN. The event took place at the Belmont University Massey Business Center. The event was organized by NCUSCR, Tennessee World Affairs Council (TNWAC), Nashville Chamber of Commerce International Business Council, TNCN, and Belmont University Center for International Business.
