On March 1, 2018, TNCN Executive Director Elizabeth Rowland held an interactive training with foreign students at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville. During the training, the students discussed what tutoring was like in their home countries (China, South Korea, Vietnam, and Bangladesh) and how it differed from tutoring in the US. The group also discussed how the US education system encourages more student engagement and interaction with teachers than the education systems in their home countries.
The goal of the training was to motivate more of the foreign students to take advantage of tutoring, teacher support, and other programs available to help them learn and boost their grades. At the end of the training, multiple students signed up for additional tutoring!
