    Taiyuan Sister Cities Delegation Visited Nashville

    A delegation from Taiyuan, China – Nashville’s Sister City – visited Nashville October 29 through November 1, 2017. The delegation included:

    • Mr. Liu Shulin, Vice Director – Taiyuan Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology
    • Ms. Xu Fang, Vice Director – Administrative Committee of Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Area
    • Ms. Shi Hairong, Section Chief – Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Taiyuan Municipal Government


    The delegation attended the National Graphene Association’s inaugural Graphene Innovation Summit and Expo in Nashville. Graphene is a target industry for development in the city of Taiyuan. The delegation also met with Dr. Donald Brady and Mr. Pepper Hatch of Vanderbilt University Medical Center (pictured above) to discuss a potential doctor training program for Taiyuan doctors at Vanderbilt.

    On October 31, Nashville Sister Cities held a farewell dinner (photos below) for the delegation at the home of Nashville Metro Council Member Sheri Weiner, who had previously visited Taiyuan with a Nashville Sister Cities delegation in May 2017.
