Construction is well underway on the new Wonder Porcelain facility in Lebanon, Tennessee.
The company, based in Dongguan, China, announced in November 2015 that it would invest $150 million to build its first US manufacturing facility in Lebanon. The announcement represented the largest capital investment made by a China-based company in the state’s history.
The T.W. Frierson Hard Hat News September edition (page 5) includes an update on and photos of the Wonder Porcelain facility construction. According to the newsletter:
[T]he new facility is situated on approximately 150 acres in the Cherry Farm Industrial Park. The 515,000 sq. ft. advanced manufacturing plant will give them the capability to produce glazed porcelain, technical color body, rectified, polished, and large format tile, and allow them to introduce advanced manufacturing capabilities and proprietary production processes that have not been previously utilized in domestic tile production. An additional 190,000 SF warehouse and adjacent office complete the facility….[C]onstruction began in June 2016, and the plant will become operational in Spring 2017.
